People holding a big check

In 2016, Macon Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors adopted a new program called Operation Round Up (ORU). The program “rounds up” a member’s bill to the nearest dollar, with the proceeds going towards local non-profit groups in our service area. All funds raised through ORU stay in the community to benefit the members of Macon Electric Cooperative.

The average amount any given member donates is just $0.50 per month, with the maximum being $11.88 per year. Members can sign up for Operation Round Up by visiting www.maconelectric.com, or by calling our office at (660) 385-3157.

In order to administer this program, a separate foundation was established, called the Macon Electric Foundation. Thus far, Operation Round Up has had a great impact on our communities. The Foundation has awarded funds to fire departments, senior citizen centers, school programs, agencies for the disabled, youth programs, food pantries, and more. The Foundation has awarded over $15,000 in grants and senior scholarships thus far.

With the continued support of Macon Electric Cooperative members signing up for Operation Round Up, this program will remain an active and beneficial support mechanism for our communities.
