Kiska Wood Completes System Operator Certification Program
Kiska Wood, a dispatcher for Macon Electric Cooperative, recently completed the System Operator Certification Program from Northwest Lineman College. This program is administered through a series of study modules and exams. Upon completion of the certification, individuals are equipped with the basics of electricity, cooperative operations, safety protocols, and enhanced dispatcher services.
Wood is a resident of Shelby County and began working for Macon Electric Cooperative in July of 2020. “The best part of my job is the people I get to work with,” stated Wood. “Everyone is extremely supportive and kind. It’s just a wonderful place to be!”
General Manager, Tim Korman, said “We take pride in the continual education of our employees and work hard to give everyone the opportunity to enhance their knowledge. We are excited for Kiska and proud of her accomplishment.” Through certifications such as the System Operator program, the cooperative maintains its mission to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy to all members.
Macon Electric Cooperative serves approximately 8,500 members in nine counties with 45 employees that maintain a 2,900-mile distribution system covering a 2,500 square mile service area.
