Macon Electric Cooperative earns Safety Achievement
Safety comes first at Missouri’s electric cooperatives. That’s why Macon Electric Cooperative participated in a rigorous effort to comply with all safety regulations through a program sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
On Feb. 5, MEC was recognized at the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives February Board Meeting for successfully completing the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) in 2018.
The program looks at performance measures from the OSHA 300 injury log and requires an onsite safety observation by someone from the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives and employees of two other electric cooperatives. In addition, the cooperative must complete an internal safety audit, prepare a safety improvement plan and the CEO has to make a leadership commitment to safety.
The purpose of the accreditation is to ensure continuing efforts to protect the safety and welfare of the cooperative’s employees.
