Macon Electric Foundation Awards Grant to Clarence Young Men’s Organization
The Macon Electric Foundation awarded a community grant to Clarence Young Men’s Organization. The group received $500 to help replace the playground equipment at the Clarence Lake. The Foundation’s community grants are funded through Operation Round Up, where Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) members can elect to have their bills each month rounded up to the next dollar. The proceeds are used to benefit area non-profits through a system of quarterly grants, awarded by the Foundation’s volunteer board of directors.
“The Macon Electric Foundation board was happy to be able to help the Clarence Young Men's Organization,” stated Michele Collins, Macon Electric Foundation board member. “This group does so much for the Clarence community and it is a privilege to be able to help them reach their goals.”
MEC members can help give back to their communities by signing up for Operation Round Up. Members can register online at www.maconelectric.com/operation-round-up, or contact the office at (660) 385-3157.
“Without the MEC members who are participating in Operation Round Up, these donations would not be possible,” said Collins. “Thanks to the generosity of MEC’s membership, this playground project will be an awesome addition to the Clarence Lake.”
Organizations can apply for a Macon Electric Foundation grant by submitting an application to the Macon Electric Cooperative office prior to the due date for each quarter. The 2018 second quarter applications are due on June 29. Interested organizations can visit MEC’s website for more information: www.maconelectric.com/macon-electric-foundation.
