Macon Electric Foundation Awards Grants to Bevier Science Class and Bevier FFA
The Macon Electric Foundation awarded a grant in the amount of $500 to Bevier C-4 school in order to help purchase a compound binocular microscope for the science classroom. In addition, the foundation awarded the Bevier FFA chapter with a $250 grant to help send FFA members to the National FFA Convention.
"The Macon Electric Foundation Board is excited to have the opportunity to present the Bevier C-4 school with these grants,” stated Mike Nelson, Macon Electric Foundation board president. “Thanks to the support of everyone who has signed up for Operation Round Up, we are able to help deserving non-profit organizations continue to make differences in our communities.”
The Macon Electric Foundation was formed with the purpose of working collaboratively to allocate the funds collected from the Macon Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up program to local community events and projects.
Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) members can help give back to their communities by signing up for Operation Round Up. This program encourages members to voluntarily round-up their electric bill each month to the nearest dollar, with the extra change going to the Foundation for their grants and scholarships. Members can register online at www.maconelectric.com/operation-round-up, or contact the MEC office at (660) 385-3157.
“We encourage all Macon Electric Cooperative members to take a couple of minutes to learn more about Operation Round and to sign up for this wonderful program,” said Mike.
Organizations can apply for a Macon Electric Foundation grant by submitting an application to the Macon Electric Cooperative office prior to the due date for each quarter. 2018 first quarter applications are due on March 30.
